Why Posterous is Great!

Ever since I discovered Posterous I have become severely addicted but I couldn't really put my finger on why....until now. I randomly found myself browsing through youtube videos on my iPod Touch and came across the trailer for Crank 2 and thought that it was pretty cool and I wanted to put a link on Twitter to it but then I had a thought which defined my love for Posterous by just using my iPod Touch. The steps I followed were:

- Finding the YouTube link for the Crank 2 video
- I then put it into a email using my Gmail account added some text and sent it to post@posterous.com
- I then opened up Twitterfon where my Posterous link was waiting for me which allowed me to view my Posterous page
- I viewed my message on my Posterous page which converted my link into an embedded YouTube video where I could play it again

I imagine this all seems very trivial and possibly quite sad to some but it blew my mind linking all of those programs on my MOBILE device. It really is a joint love for my iPod Touch to be honest but the basic concept of using an email account to post to a blog is truly an inspired idea. Anyway that is my attempt to explain why I think Posterous is great :)

Twitter worm made by teenager

http://edition.cnn.com/2009/TECH/04/13/twitter.worm/index.html?iref=mpstoryview

Apparently there was a worm spreading around Twitter over the weekend, I didn't notice myself but if anyone was affected or saw the website 'stalkdaily.com' then you may want to have a read.

S.Darko Trailer

This is the trailer of S.Darko which is the sequel to the brilliant Donnie Darko. Frank is back and the whole situation seems very familiar. In my opinion they are taking a huge risk making this film because it could easily flop and could end up alienating the mass of fans that were accumulated by the release of Donnie Darko.

Windows 7

I installed Windows 7 tonight (thanks warez-bb.org) and I have to say I am impressed. I am probably going to say a lot of cliche things but here goes.

I have first noticed that it boots a hell of a lot quicker than it did with Vista and the overall interface is much nicer. My favourite feature has to be the way programs are minimised where icons are used instead of sometimes a huge amount of tabs. The libraries idea seems a bit pointless apart from easing people minds who have OCD. I was very impressed with such little amount of room on my hard drive it requires rather than the hungry bastard that was Vista.

One down point for me personally is for some reason my laptop gets very hot even when carrying out minimal tasks, with Vista I was forced to use the balanced option rather than high performance but with 7 I can no longer use the balanced power plan as it makes my laptop overheat and switch off so now I have to use the power save option which isn't ideal but I will soldier on until I get my beloved netbook.

To conclude, I do recommend Windows 7 especially if you have a slightly older/less powerful machine as it is much more efficient than Vista and better looking than XP. Will be interesting to see the final release but I have heard the 7070 build is pretty close.

XP's lease of life to be extended further

Windows XP is still going to be sold preinstalled on some computers until 2010. It looks like Microsoft won't let it die even with the official release of Windows 7 this summer.

I am officially addicted to Google Analytics

After discovering Posterous has the feature of using Google Analytics with each page I thought I would try it out and I have to say I am hooked. The amount of statistics and interesting data on show is incredible, it is possible to find out almost everything about the people who have viewed my page ranging from which operating system and browser they were using to the keywords used in a search engine to find it.

My favourite feature has to be the map though, it shows the locations where the visitors accessed my page as a graphical representation and it fantastic to see where people in the world have read my page.

I encourage all website, blog and also Posterous owners to sign up for Google Analytics if they haven't already as it is completely free and all that is required is a googlemail address.

As Intel's Atom gains, Apple still holdout

I personally love the Intel Atom but that is probably due to my love of netbooks
